A backup is overdue

Weik.io 2026.2

The hub's newest backup is older than twice the backup interval in the installation's settings. Video

Watch: Backups, restore and upgrades, 3:28

The video makes a backup, restores one document and then the whole hub, and goes through the upgrade steps.

What it means#

The hub hasn’t taken a backup for longer than twice its backup interval. Without a recent backup, a restore after a lost server goes back further than you planned.

What raises it#

No backup taken by the backup service or by weikio-backend backup is newer than twice the installation’s backupEvery setting. A new installation counts from when it was created. The detail gives the newest backup.

What to check#

See the backup interval, how many archives the server keeps and where they’re copied:

Terminal
$ weikio settings get

On a hub server, in the stack’s folder, check that the backup service runs and read its log:

Terminal
$ docker compose ps backup
$ docker compose logs backup

How to fix it#

Start the backup service again when it stopped, or take a backup by hand on a hub server, in the stack’s folder:

Terminal
$ docker compose run --rm infra weikio-backend backup --to <folder>

The problem clears as soon as the hub records the new backup. A stack written with --dev has no backup service, so on a development hub the problem shows until you take backups by hand.
